Story type:OurEcho Community
Location:Junction City KS USA
Year:2006
Person:Gail Martin
I had the great good fortune to meet Gail Martin and her daughter, Cindi Ross, this week-end in person. All three of us have work posted at OurEcho. All three of us live in Kansas, but I knew both of them only through the OurEcho community.

We all attended the Kansas Authors state convention this week-end so had a chance to get to know one another. I feel very privileged to call Gail and Cindi "Friend" for they are two outstanding individuals. Both have given a great deal to the Kansas Authors organization through the years. Besides that they are lovely people, warm and friendly as well as witty and having a sense of humor. My only regret concerning my time spent with them is that we did not get a picture of the three of us.

I taught two workshops on the subject of publishing your work online, and I gave OurEcho a good plug, so I'm hoping to see some new writers here soon. Gail came to one the sessions I taught, and she added her own plug for OurEcho.

In closing let me add a word of encouragement to those of you who like to write. Find a writer's conference in or near the area where you live. if you've never attended a meeting like this, you'll be surprised at how inspirational they can be. I always come home with the desire to sit down and write a new story. Plus it's fun to spend time with people who have the same interest you do. And most of all, you always learn something about the craft of writing.
OurEcho is a FREE SERVICE dedicated to capturing and sharing the individual "bits and pieces" that define our local communities. It might be a bit of interesting local history, an old photograph, a special memory or just a funny story. We are particularly interested in those fascinating and intriguing events/people (both large and small) that we all encounter as part of the human experience. It might be something that happened recently or something passed down to you through your family. Our goal is to provide a forum for local communities to share who they are through their stories and photographs. When you take the time to share these reflection with others, you help us better understand you, the world we live in, and if we are lucky, they help us better understand ourselves.
