The robin sings before the dawn, for she knows the sun will rise.
The hour will come when it will shine, brightly blazing in the skies.
She sings one song at break of dawn, she has another song for rain,
she sings a different song at dusk; surely other songs remain.

During the day, she doesn't play, but listens so she can eat.
She knows a juicy morsel awaits when a worm attempts retreat.
Her feet run fast upon the grass, and she tips her little head--
intent upon the slightest sound; without food she would be dead.

Who taught the robin to sing her songs, taught her to find her food,
and who taught her to teach her young? Does the thought of God elude?
The Creator had a master plan for everything, great or small,
and all that the Lord created was perfect before the fall.

But sin has tainted everything; just listen to the robin's song.
You'll recognize it's a minor key without having to listen long.
When the wrong—resulting from the fall—is set right at end of time,
Then the robin will sing a symphony of worship so sublime.

As beautifully as she sings now, can you imagine what that will be?
And those of us who can't carry a tune, will suddenly sing on key.
A perfect song from perfect hearts . . . to worship a perfect King;
and O', the joy that will come, the pleasure our song will bring.

But don't wait ‘til then to worship God, for He surely deserves our praise;
and if we wait to worship Him to the close of our earthly days,
we'll surely sorrow in knowing that we could have brought Him pleasure,
and the things we thought He wanted, we'll find they had no measure!

He created us to worship Him, for His pleasure we were made.
Doing things for Him is good, but should not be overplayed.
If all we do is work and serve, but never get close to His heart,
then what Christ said to Martha is true: we're missing the better part.
OurEcho is a FREE SERVICE dedicated to capturing and sharing the individual "bits and pieces" that define our local communities. It might be a bit of interesting local history, an old photograph, a special memory or just a funny story. We are particularly interested in those fascinating and intriguing events/people (both large and small) that we all encounter as part of the human experience. It might be something that happened recently or something passed down to you through your family. Our goal is to provide a forum for local communities to share who they are through their stories and photographs. When you take the time to share these reflection with others, you help us better understand you, the world we live in, and if we are lucky, they help us better understand ourselves.
