I receive emails from a thing called "Winning Writers".

You can sign up for it at winningwriters.com
The email contains tons of writing contests, some
of which are free.

In this issue I found a free contest called "Story
Mash". Writers post a first chapter and
other writers comment on it or add another chapter.
They give a $300 prize for the best chapter.
I wish I had know about it before. The contest
ends on 4/20/08.
