This chapter is about learning to not take certain things for granted in life. Nothing is ever certain or ever guaranteed to last. There are no guarantees in life for much of anything anymore. Like the love a mother recieves from her children, some children are not appreciative of their mother. My experience with my 2 daughters has taught me some very good lessons in life. As a parent,if you spoil your child you will pay for it later in life, and even if you give them everything that you possibly can it still is never enough, they still want more. Once your child knows your weakness, they pray on that and use it against you as much as they can. I have never been able to figure out why some children can forgive their fathers and not their mothers, why is that? Mothers are expected to be perfect all the time,no matter what the situation. You know, mothers are human and are not perfect by any means. I think that most children feel that it is okay for them to say hurtful things, but,as parents we are not allowed to get angry and say hurtful things to them. I really believe that some people in the world grow up wanting to forget where they came from and they believe they are better than the next person. I have had to learn to show tough love to my daughters, this late in their lives, because they have wanted to play mind games with me,but,at this point in my life the game playing is over for me. My sons have always been more respectful to me as a parent and they had it so much harder in life than their sisters. My one daughter has always had a problem with lying and living in a fantasy world and the time has come for me to set her straight about how I really feel. I am done with the on and off relationship that she has always wanted from me. As a parent you have to put your foot down at some point in your life. This is another thing that it took me forever to learn with my daughter. As a human being I feel much better about myself now that I am able to do these things. Seeing a thereapist has helped me a great deal in seeing things clearer than I use to.
OurEcho is a FREE SERVICE dedicated to capturing and sharing the individual "bits and pieces" that define our local communities. It might be a bit of interesting local history, an old photograph, a special memory or just a funny story. We are particularly interested in those fascinating and intriguing events/people (both large and small) that we all encounter as part of the human experience. It might be something that happened recently or something passed down to you through your family. Our goal is to provide a forum for local communities to share who they are through their stories and photographs. When you take the time to share these reflection with others, you help us better understand you, the world we live in, and if we are lucky, they help us better understand ourselves.
