Where I heard the advice about writing has long been for gotten, but it still seems to me, to be just as applicable now, as when I first heard it: 1) Never assume your manuscript is no good because it has been rejected. It may be that the editor already has a piece that is similar to it. 2) There is also the timing of the manuscript, it is possible that it is at the wrong time of the year for that editor. Remember that Clive Cussler’s book “Raise the Titanic” was rejected by several editors. He put it in a drawer to wait till the right time. Cussler wrote and published several other books and then went back and sent it in and it was accepted and became a movie. The moral is never assume that a piece is bad based on rejection slips. 3) It also depends on what appeals to the editor. Many great works of literature have been snubbed by editors that have lived to regret there refusal of a work that someone else saw as a gold mine of opportunity. Take heart connoisseurs of the written word, there is hope yet for us all.
