Moving To Michigan-Well I let Shannon stay with friends and stay in Florida. This was against my better judgement and the fact that he really did not want to go. Richard has talked about Michigan since this was where he was from. So he and I and Darryl Jr and Timothy left for Michigan in October 1995. It was already snowing when we got there. We stayed in a motel for 3 months and then we found a house. Shannon went to North Carolina to live with my brother for a while and I felt better about that. I was not having any communication with Jennifer. Richard and I got jobs but we still were not making that much money. The winters in Michigan were really cold. We moved into several different house along the way and had several different jobs as well. But we always managed to find a way to pay our bills. In June of 1998 we moved into a 2 bedroom apartment and had jobs that were a little better than in the past. Our car broke down and we were without it for 3 months. But we still got back and forth we would take the city bus or walk or get a cab. I brought Shannon back home that year because my brother and his wife wanted me to give them custody and I said no he had a home to come to. Darryl Jr and Shannon were starting to get into trouble in their teenage years. This was a difficult time for us. But we dealt with the problems as best as we could. In June of 1999 my brother called me to tell me that my mother had passed away. It was on June 9,1999 and they were having her funeral on June 11,1999. I was not financially able to go on such short notice, but we did send flowers. That has bothered me every since it happened. I was starting to think about the future and knew that I did not want to stay in Michigan any longer. Darryl Jr and Shannon both were working and both had quit school. Richard and I started planning to make a move. We started looking for the best place to live and work. When we got our taxes back for the year 2000 we decided to move to Greensboro,North Carolina. We had always enjoyed that state. Darryl Jr and Shannon both had girlfriends and wanted to stay in Michigan. They got an apartment together and split the bills. On March 12,2000 Richard and I and Timothy left with our big uhaul and pulling our car we headed for North Carolina. Once again I was worried about leaving my 2 sons behind. We were very lucky we found a place to live and jobs in less than a week. After being there for a month I went to visit my family who I had not seen in a long time. I got to see my brother and his family as well as my sister and her family and my father. He was staying with my brother. They all were living on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I felt real good about that. I was calling and checking on Shannon and Darryl Jr real often to make sure they were okay. Our temp jobs had turned into full time jobs and we were finally making good money for a change. We loved where we were living. Timothy was in school and doing okay. I finally had talk to Jennifer and she paid for Timothy to come and visit her for 2 weeks. Of course he had to fly and was scared to death. But he did enjoy the visit. Her and Roger were married and had their own apartment. Things were not going too bad at all for a change in our lives.
