What's On My Bookshelf
There's two book-shelves in my room, both full and running over. Needless to say I love books, I think all writers do. I started collecting about the same time I started writing. I have love stories, poetry such as Browning, Shakespear, Sandburg, Emmerson, Poe, "Quote The Raven" I love this one. Some are so deep, I find myselF reading it two and three times, to try to understand what the Dickens they are saying. "Pun" I mostly buy the very old ones. I have some with mouse eaten corners, good to see others enjoy what I have found. I have a lot of literature books. Now thats deep. I have so many, I won't even try to name any of them. My favorite book, I think, is a book I picked up recently, called Mrs. Mike. There are three reasons I love it. One is, that my great uncle produced the movie, The second is, I was about the same age as the young girl in the book, when I first read it. and the third is, it is a timeless love story. Girls today can relate to the life she lived.
I think the strangest book I have found is a 106 year old cook book. It has 365 Desserts in it. I can honestly say they look good but I've not tried any of them yet. One of these days I'll get brave. I'm not one for cooking now days.
I have a nice variety of books, and am always looking for others. I hit the yard sales and sometimes if I'm lucky our local library has a sale, mostly I love the yard sales the best. You never know what your going to find. I love the older books as they told a story. Not like some of the things you read today. Well, I'll just keep looking and making more room. I'm sure there will be others added to my collection. I just pray that my Grand-children will enjoy them as much as I have.
