Leavin On His Mind

He walked out on the platform, suitcase in his hand.
He had talked about leavin,
But she didn't understand.
The tears would dry,
And her heart would mend,
He told her that he loved her,
That this was not the end.
That he would always be there,
Should she ever need a friend.

As the tears welled up inside,
He finally broke and cried.
He thought of the good times,
And he thought about the sad.
And he thought "why am I leavin"?
Have things really been so bad?

In the distance he could hear
The whistle of the train.
And as it pulled into the station,
It began to gently rain.
He stood there for a moment,
Then gently wiped away the tears.
Reaching into his pocket for some change,
He gently brushed away his fears.

He finally realized how much he loved her.
From behind him came a voice,
"Are you ready sir"?
As the train pulled from the station,
He could hear the whistle blow.
And it all boiled down to the fact,
"He couldn't go".
