The Rose Within

The Rose Within

If you get past the amber green leaves, and the thorns, that meander up the branch. If you dare to touch this gentle, graceful, delicate flower.

Feel not the pulse that lies within, but smell only with thine eyes shut. Breathe in the fragrance. Let its nectar drift into your senses. Let the sweet sugary taste savor upon your memory.

Look not at the potpourri of colors. Let not those thorns distract you from its inner beauty. Feel the feathery softness of the gentle rose brush against your cheek.

Look at my love for you, as that of the gentle rose. For within me is the tenderness you desire. Look not at whom I am, but who you want me to be. Look at who I am when I'm with you. I am but a gentle rose.

@ K.L. Farnum
