Do you hear the echo? Of the crowd so long ago? Do you see the lights, from those endless concert nights? You thought you'd go so far, you were gonna be a star! So you dropped out of school, and learned to play that magic tool. That guitar became part of your soul, you lived only for that rock and roll, Your songs were hot, they hit the top. You loved the fame, couldn't stop. Oh man! you loved the money too, there wasn't nothin' it couldn't do It bought you drugs so you could sleep, and fancy clothes for you to keep, all over the world, they fell in love, with your image on the stage above. You were young, you were strong, you put your soul into every song. And the money just kept pouring in, so you moved on to heroin, Do you hear the echo? Of the sirens so long ago? Do you still see the lights, of the hospital that night Doctor told you you'd go too far, if you didn't come down off your star But it was too late, you were a fool. You're a legend, aren't you cool? |
