This is a Lyric I wrote just days after, 9,11 in 2001.

SHATTERED DREAMS

On the eleventh of September
Two thousand and one,
With regret I remember
The evil deeds done,
When without any warning
A nation so free
On a mid-autumn morning
Faced inhumanity.

Chorus:
God bless America,
Keep watch from above.
God bless America,
Show your tender love.
Sooth the bereaved with your solace,
Bathe the injured with care,
And to those taken from us,
Let heaven be theirs.

Shattered lives, shattered dreams,
Paralysing the world,
When hatred wove reams,
Of acts so absurd.
Tears in their torrents,
Streamed the eyes of the world,
Nothing could warrant ,
This atrocity,Lord.

Repeat chorus:
