Do you ever wonder

If you ever loved me honestly
because of who I was
instead of even though...
If you ever believed in my dreams
the way I wanted too
until I gave them up as failures
Because yours were more important
Do you ever remember
being proud of me
for any thing about me
or any words you ever said
to encourage me at all
or that were given from your heart
with honesty and faith
Do you ever wonder if
the shadow that was me
was the woman I was
meant to be
or if I failed at everything
because you expected
that I would
Would you ever imagine
who I might have been
and if you only loved me
because I was so weak
that I magnified your strength
If I had kept my own
and used it for myself
would you have believed
in me, in what we might
have been together
