Playdate!

Playdate!

August 19, 2006

Today's activity was a 'playdate' with my sister, Cindy, and her daughter to papercraft. We all have a shared interest in scrapbooking and it's much more fun to get together and share supplies and stories. Plus I tend to get more accomplished than on my own.

This time we met at a bank in Andover. They have a meeting room in the basement that people can use.

I have two scrapbook projects that I'm working on. One is my in-laws 50th anniversary pictures and the other is a surprize album for a friend that has been volunteering for 40 years for our local Miss America preliminary pageant. I've been gathering pictures and notes from her pageant friends and I'm starting to create the pages.

I also have a stamping convention coming up in September and one of the activities is a card swap and a shoebox swap. A card swap is where you creat a card design and make multiple copies of it. Then at the convention you trade or swap your cards with other people. That way you get lots of different ideas and samples. A shoebox swap is similar but you one make one card and bring all the supplies for other people to make your card. Then you move from shoebox to shoebox, making as many cards as you can. So I didn't to design some interesting cards to share.

Cindy wanted to make greeting cards and to learn to step them up using layers. That was her challenge.

Kristy was into organizing all her existing scrapbooks and all her loose photos. She was changing from having her pages organized by child to chronological. Quite a daunting task.

As usual, I took way more stuff than I needed but I still had fun.

After scrapping and toting all morning and afternoon, David and I picked up our friend, Joann, and headed to the the Miss Augusta pageant that night. It was the first pageant of the season and it's always fun to to see who's running and how they've grown and matured.

After the pageant we had a late supper at McDonalds with our reigning titleholder and her mother. What fun! We laughed and gossiped until the manager kicked us out!
