This was moving day, where we shifted our daughter and everything she owned from Belle Plaine to Emporia, Kansas. Monday she will begin her graduate assistant program in library science.
It's a slow and painful process, untangling her life from ours. Her towels, her sheets, her pillows. But it's much easier separating the 'stuff' than the things you can't see.
We pulled out around noon, van and trailer and Diana's car. No trouble finding her apartment, it's walking distance from the college. The apartment itself is in pretty good shape, definitely not a hole.
We got everything moved in fairly quickly and then had to make a quick trip to Wal-Mart. Naturally she has only a little money to make it through the next week so we picked up some milk, cereal and such to stock her up.
And then home through the dark Flint Hills to a home that's just a little less.
