That Unforgettable Swinging Bridge

That Unforgettable Swinging Bridge

That Unforgettable Swinging Bridge

In El Dorado Kansas
Out on that Kansas Prairie
Are several land marks
That stand out in my memory.

Besides the Eris, and Roxy theaters
Beside the Citizen’s, and Walnut Valley Bank
That stately old courthouse
That old El Dorado water tank

There is that Swinging Bridge
Spanning the river, out in the park
I’ve been on it in the daylight
I’ve been on it in the dark.

I’ve been there with friends
We’ve swung it to-and-fro
I’ve stood on it all alone
Some great memories, doncha know.

I've stood on it deep in thought
Mind a million miles away
About some incident
That happened to me in school today

Been there with my wife
Hand in hand we stood
On the Swinging Bridge
On those planks of wood

My wife is still with me
Far from my home town
Of El Dorado, Kansas
And that “Swinging Bridge of Renown”.
