Memories

The old red barn
Middle slighltly sagging
Stuffed with treasures galore
Memories abound with every glance

There's the old red sleigh
Snow and ice was everywhere
When we hitched old Cody
And gave rides to young and old alike

Trunks piled in the corner
Keep their secrets safely
Long ago necessities
Are my joys each time I look

Grandma's old crock cookie jar
Is over there on a bench
Dark blue with soft red flowers
Hundreds of hungry boys it's fed

There's jugs and jars and old iron pots
A spring wagon and a buggy
Each brings a memory back
Of carefree times in childhood days.
