In a small dedication to mothers everywhere, and in honor of any parent feeling slightly distressed: here's to you an excerpt from my personal blog... It is not everyday that we take the time to look around our home and see, truly see what we have. On this very regular day, I did take the time. I looked around and I saw shoes all over the hallway in front of the door. I wasn't aware that each of my children had more than two feet at a given time. I was so surprised by my son when I asked him how come there were so many pairs of shoes by the door, he said because I'm wearing them! That meant that today my son has at least eight feet today (for those doing the math yes, this means 4 pair)(Oh yes, I've been there too!) And my daughter, my lovely daughter, how many hair bands can you wear? Why are they everywhere? Why do you wear them on your wrist? Why do you have them wrapped around your brush handle? And why is it that when we are out and you suddenly need one, you cannot find one? And finally, as I go and get my wash out of the dryer (and the clothes are dry...get a mental picture of this...)and the pocket of my other son's pants is connected to my one and only good shirt by way of a gooy, gloppy glob of pink gum!!! Oh I want to pull every last strand of my hair out, when I begin to smile and laugh outloud and say...dear lord thank you so much for this very, very ordinary wonderful regular day! I'm glad I took the time to look around and I am thankful. Mary Caliendo |
