I’ve given you my soul, my dollar, and my word.
You’ve given me, what have you given me?
These audacious thoughts to comfort me
While others die for an idea I die to blend in
To be en masse is to be American.
These neon signs and dirty streets
How much better could life be?
Pushed around by money and politics
Without the bottom-line where would we be?
The corruption, the classes, the masquerades
Who is my friend? America, have you been loyal?
I have been. I’ve shopped, and I will until I drop.
Isn’t this what you ask of me?
I promise to never think for myself, to never have a thought.
To give myself to you until I am nothing
Just as my forefathers.
Bless you America,
For you have blessed me.
