The moth of desire.

The moth of desire.

Tonight stretching into tomorrow
I have travelled so often before,
And in midnight’s wide eyes
I can sense the surprise
Of a dream cast adrift on a shore,
And it burns with the passion of wanting
A glimpse of so long, long ago,
When the moth of desire
And my earthly heart’s fire
Were caught in the lantern’s soft glow.

My thoughts like the leaves of the Autumn
Are still blown far away from the trees,
Softly whispering notes
Like armada’s of boats
Sailing proudly away on the seas,
Though the storms are still churning the waters
The bright golden dreams will still ride,
And the moon’s silver touch
Will inspire them so much
To carry you straight to my side

Once again round the flames of the lantern
The moth of desire will dance,
Then the pages will turn
And my feelings will burn
At the blossoming of our romance,
And the dream on the shore writes no longer
On the clouds with its message of light,
In some strange gentle way
It had so much to say
For the morning has followed the night…
