Eagles Fly That Way

All my life for love I yearned,
but often times His love I spurned.
It has been so long; I hope I've learned
to trust Him and obey.
I used to doubt that He was there.
Sometimes I'd think, "He doesn't care!"
For there were troubles everywhere,
and heartaches filled my day.

How oft' I fought against the stream
and failed to work within the scheme,
resisting all the truths I'd seen
and questioned when I'd pray,
"Why me? Why all these trials, Lord?"

"Why not?" was the reply I heard.
"You could have spread your wings and soared
like eagles when they play!
You fight against My perfect will!
You question when I speak. Be still!
You'd see My promise I'd fulfill,"
and He went on to say,
"The eagles fly where winds are strong,
they spread their wings and sing their song.
The currents carry them along,
the winds become their stay!"

"For you it could be much the same
if you'd draw strength in Jesus' Name.
You never shall be put to shame
if you accept My way.
For it's only when the winds are high
that you with ease can soar and fly
and lose your cares as clouds pass by,
so trust in what I say!"

"I'll carry you on eagles' wings
and give you strength in all these things
to run the race with what life brings;
My strength will be your stay!
If you would soar to heights above,
be ever mindful of My love
until you reach My home above.
All eagles fly that way."
