Robin

Once upon a happy day
A robin sang a tune
Of flowers, trees, and ocean breeze
And warm midsummer’s moon.
As Robin sang, the day grew long
And noon turned into eve…
Clear notes fell last on shadowed grass
But ‘fore he took his leave
He turned to face the setting sun
And spread his wings out wide
To moon and sun, to past and to-come
To salt-kissed ocean starlight…
When bird took wing on humid air
The sand breathed in his song
And as he flew o’er waters blew
Waves smiled and sang along.
