Ode To The Old Geezer

This is my first attempt at "Cowboy Poetry". If anyone wants to read more about cowboy poetry, just type in Waddie Mitchel or Baxter Black (two of the most famous cowboy poets). My husband Gary does Cowboy Mounted Shooting and his alias is "The Old Geezer".

ODE TO THE OLD GEEZER
Listen Pard. I got somethin' to tell ya.
About the Old Geezer, my man, my fella.

He bit the dust just last nite
He and this old white hoss had a terrible fight
I never seen such a goings on!
I swear I thought it would last tell dawn!
Old Geezer was tryin' to get on the right side
The old white hoss didn't want him to ride.

There were this scuffle --- a fairly big tussle
Ole Geezer tighted up. He used every muscle.
He didn't fall. He just kinda set down. There was a loud pop --- then silence all around.
You see --the old horse in the fight with the man
Gave out a snort, a kick, and then ran.

But as unplanned as it all was,
Her hoof made contact with his ankle,
and that was the cause.
Well, Old Geezer lay there upon the ground
Images of all the horses that still had to be found.
When he come to his senses, he began to beg
"Please! Don't let 'em cut off my chinks! I've still got one good leg!

Ole Geezer was glad that the chinks went untouched
But there was lots of them needles, pokin' and prodin' and such
The doc sezs that Ole Geezer will be as good as new
But it will take his old bones .. maybe a month or two.

Ole Geezers now lyin' in a hospital bed
Bein' thankful he's more alive than he is dead.
Good things sometimes come out of a curse
Old Geezers havin' his pillows plumped by a cute little nurse!
