AS SUMMER FADES

By the late Eileen Breen
March 16, 1916 – May 5, 2006

Poem Number 13
________________________________________________

AS SUMMER FADES

I’ve packed away the blithesome things of summer
The pink and navy pants, the buckskin shoes
The scented leaf I picked up in Killiney
The menu cards, the camera and the views

But when again spring steals amongst the by-ways
And celandine and primrose will appear
With travel pass in hand I’ll head for Dublin
And call to you from gate
“I’m here, I’m here!”
