I know most of my poetry seems dark and sad; maybe somewhat bleak
But if you notice my darkest writes are always when I’m weak
My poems about my children are always that of a positive set
It’s the ones about my childhood which portray a negative past regret

Feelings and emotions can vanish as quickly as they appear
So one must prepare themselves with a pen and paper always near
Reminiscing about the past is somewhat good for the soul
Even if the memories involve pain; talking and writing helps us grow

I’m really a cheerful natured person and pessimism you will rarely find
It solely depends on the mood that I’m in and my current state of mind
Certain topics and actions can trigger an episode of my disease
Such as negative intentional comments and stressors meant to tease

So you see when I speak about my loved ones; love surrounds me whole
Your criticism and patronizing merely provides me with an essential role
Lashing out on paper my emotions I cannot express to you at face
They’re only my thoughts at the moment that take me to a happier place
