Seeking Treasure

Love is a treasure which all of us may hold
It carries us through life, from newborn to old
Love shows mercy where other forms clearly do not
It consoles our very existence and simply can’t be bought

Treasures we’re always searching; monetarily so to speak
Love is a priceless gift of eternity; something all of us should seek
All the money and riches in the world cannot fill the empty void
The only path to happiness is love when it’s abundantly enjoyed

Love will never leave you, though pain is one of its side effects
One dosage of erroneous love and your heart will fully reject
Love will give you guidance; helping you in your time of need
Its bond can never be broken; there’s too much emotion for it to feed

Although it can be agonizing and sometimes let you down
As quickly as is dissipates, a new love again is found
It will help you through all conflicts and ease your mind at rest
Love is never taking; giving is what it does best

So treasures we may be seeking subconsciously in our minds
But what we’ve taken for granted is a wonderful gift so easy to find
Use your gift wisely; don’t misuse it and discard it to the side
For our treasure has been with us always; in our hearts, deep inside
