Windows By Donald Jones Windows are different no mater where they are They let us see obvious things that are near and afar. Windows let us see one place from that point and no more While others are seldom placed to view what we deplore. Some windows show us a rolling landscape, while others let us see sky, Some bring us into other lives, where there are none who are shy. Windows let us see parts of the world, we are hiding from, while shielding us from the curious Who will surly come. Some windows reveal beauty, while others are covered with curtains, forbidding all but filtered light, making our lives feel certain. Windows allow us to sample the world, yet keep us safe from its touch, protected from our fears, that could bind us with its clutch. Windows are like our memories that tease us, with longed for moments of the past, that are soon dismissed with other thoughts lost in a wistful look, through the glass. |
