A New Relationship-I had been living with my parents. One day I had let the kids go out to play and went looking for them. I found them across the way at a neighbors house. His name was Richard Foust a young man that lived alone. The kids were watching T.V. and eating popcorn with Richard. We started spending a lot of time at Richard's house and before too long the kids and I moved in with him. I was still in love with Darryl deep down inside but I tried not to show it. I tried to keep it buried deep inside of me. Darryl was no longer seeing the children and he never paid child support. I was still living on welfare and staying home and keeping house. We started going places and doing things as a family. My 2 oldest sons still spent a lot of time with my parents. My youngest son Timothy was 4 months old when I started living with Richard. After a year or so I wanted to leave Florida and go for a fresh start somewhere else. In December of 1987 Richard and I decided to move to North Carolina. We just decided to pack up the children and what we could get in his car and leave in the middle of the night. We were determined to make it. We ended up in Cary North Carolina and we were staying at the Cary Inn. We were staying in a 3 room effeciency and we ended up staying there for about a year and a half. We both got jobs and worked opposite shifts because we could not afford daycare. We both started working at restaurants but Richard later switched his job to a landscape job at a country club. We bought another car and we found a 3 bedroom house to rent. Things were going good for us. We slowly were able to furnish the house. There was a church right next door and the children started going to church. The church even bought the kids clothes to wear and they were involved in lots of fun activities. I was moving up in my job and Richard and I started making more money. We were taking the kids to the fair,having them birthday parties and having big christmas celebrations. Things were going real good and we were becoming a family. I wanted to switch to dayshift so I good be at home with my children at night. When Timothy was old enough I wanted to put him in daycare. We also got the kids a dog. He was 8 weeks old when we got him and we named him Blackie. He became a member of the family. I was slowly falling in love with Richard and falling out of love with Darryl Lee,Sr after 15 years of hanging on to him. Richard had been there for me and the kids and had helped me put our family back together and enjoy life for a change. The year 1990 would turn out to be the best year yet for us. Our lives would really move forward in the right direction. I was feeling a lot better about myself now that I was off welfare and was working to support my children. I did not feel like I was in the gutter anymore. We were even taking vacations and had been back to Florida for visits. We were a family and we were enjoying life for a change and it felt really good.
