Life As A Child

I remember some things of my childhood. I remember my father buying me and my sisters Tonka Trucks for christmas to play with. My brother was the 4th child to come along and I guess thats why we got trucks to play with. We went to vero beach every weekend and camped there all weekend long. We lived out in a rural are and usually went to town once a week. We lived on an acre of my grandparents land. My grandparents had all kinds of animals. It seems like life was just simple back then. We had a balack and white T.V. back then and on Saturday night I watched wrestling with my father. We use to sell blackberries on the side of the road. My grandfather always had a garden. My grandmother worked in the school cafeteria and always brought home food for us. She always took us to church every sunday. She would have her car full of her grandchildren taking us to church. When I was growing up we went swimming in the lakes there was no pools. We were not rich or anything but we always had love. It was not easy being the oldest of 6 children. I was always the second mother to my siblings. I remember when I got my first bicycle and left it in the driveway and it got run over. We always had a dog in the family and my mother loved cats. It was a long bus ride to school and back. Most of our family lived in the same area we took up one whole side of the road. We always had a lot of orange groves in our town. My father would take us to the fair every year and he always won the big stuffed animals. At the age of 10 he took me on the double ferris wheel and I was scared to death of heights. Even though we did not have much we always had fun. I have always been use to having a big family and family has always been important to me. It was a big change for us when we finally moved to the city. It took some getting use to. I recently went back to visit where I grew up and nothing looked the same. My grandparents have both passed away and all of their property has been sold. But it is still good to remember what it was like as a child.
