This story begins at the age of 14 for Veronica. She ran away from home and ended up pregnant at the age of 15. She goes back home to live,but her family can't afford to help raise another child. Veronica goes to a home for unwed teens. There she is suppose to give her baby up for adoption. After the birth of her baby on November 25,1978,she was not able to give her little girl away. She named her Stephanie,she was so adorable. Stephanie's father was not able to help with her care. Veronica and Stephanie went home to live with her family. Veronica tried going back to school while her mother kept Stephanie. But Veronica just did not feel she fit in anymore. She dropped out of school 3 months in the 11th grade. Veronica was learning that being a young mother was very hard,especially when your poor. Stephanie's father was in a foster home and could not help her. Veronica was feeling alone and scared. She was being pressured by her baby's father's social worker to give Stephanie up for adoption. Veronica had a younger sister who had leukemia,so her family was already under a lot of pressure and strain. Veronica decided the best thing for Stephanie was to go ahead with the adoption. Stephanie was 4 months old at the time. This would be the hardest decision Veronica would have to make in her life. Veronica took Stephanie to the adoption agency,her eyes filled with tears as she handed her to someone else. As she filled out the paperwork her heart was breaking and she was feeling very lonely. Veronica went home feeling empty and sad. After the adoption,Veronica continued to see Darryl and they moved in together. Amonth later Veronica was pregnant again. It was pointless to give Stephanie up for adoption and get pregnant a month later. Of course,that was just the beginning of Veronica's heartaches. She did not realize that falling in love at a young age would lead to a lot of hurt and pain. Darryl would never marry her and she would have 4 children by him. Veronica would spend 15 years of her life on a man who did not really love her. Veronica would never forget about Stephanie. Thanksgiving would never be the same for Veronica. The adoption of Stephanie was just the beginning of Veronica's heartache and pain that would consume her life.
