Dropping Zone

is a flutter of feathers
from awnings
as pigeons sweep to the street,
their sentry spotting
a morsel flung
upon the sidewalk

perhaps
someone too full, doesn’t
really matter
leftover pizza promises an
interesting snack.

Anxious wings
send
shoppers scampering
knowing these
fowl creatures have
nasty weapons in
an arsenal of droppings.
