A very dear friend came to me several years ago and asked me to write something for her husband. She wanted to put it in a frame at his grave site for the holiday. I had decided to not place this poem here on OurEcho for fear it would upset a lot of people due to its content. I hope that does not happen. For it was written to a friend out of love for them both.
A Valentine For You
Although you’ve gone away,
In my heart you’ll always stay,
The little things that I now do,
Remind me every day of you.
Now all I have are memories,
Of things we used to do,
Those sweet precious memories of you.
So on this special day I send my love,
On wings of Angels up above,
May they softly kiss your furrowed brow?
And let you know, “I love you even now”.
I know I shouldn’t live in the past,
But I was so sure,
That our life together would last,
I know it’s only been a year,
Since you went away,
And in my heart, I know you’ll stay,
I love you more, Each and every day.
So on this special day I send my love,
On wings of Angels up above,
May they softly kiss your furrowed brow?
And let you know, “I love you even now”.
