Jewels Of The Sea I walked along the sandy shore, There wasn’t much I did ignore, The glistening sand, was washed by the sea, Glistening bright, as bright could be. Buried deep within the brine, Was a treasure that I called mine? As a child, I’d run and play, Having a time, all the long day, Bucket in hand and shovel to boot, A whoop and a holler, a scream, and a hoot, I was like a pirate, discovering his loot. I’d run through the waves, causing a stir, Turning the foam into a blur, There in the sand, buried below, Were all kinds of treasures I know? They were buried beneath me, But hard as I tried, I couldn’t see. Those treasures so grand, Buried so deep in the sand, The jewels of the sea, Were buried for me, And at the end of the day, When the sun went away And my bucket was full, With my heart at a lull, The pirate in me, was safely at sea, The ship was at rest, peacefully Sound asleep was I, all snug in my bunk, Overlooking my treasures, That was hidden deep in my trunk. @ K.L.
