Poem for Shannon

Poem for Shannon

Shannon
Who was a resident of Belle Plaine
Who was the youngest sister of Owen, Susan, Ginger, Cindy, and Karen
Who nurtured her family (Dave, Diana and Samantha)
Who won a national award in entomology, and staged regional princess pageants
Who loved reading and re-reading books, playing cards, and growing flowers
Who laughed about her troubles, but campaigned against injustice at work
Who created scrapbooks and unique cards with stamped designs
Who dreaded bill paying and housekeeping chores
Who loved listening to John McCutcheon and Tom Chapin sing
When she worked at the Walnut Valley Festival
Who dreamed of attending the Olympics to see the figure skating
Who shared a psychic link with special people in her life
Who coped with back pain and repetitive motion injury
Who was treasured by all who knew her
Hyle
