The Silvery Moon

The Silvery Moon

Through the trees I see, the silvery moon looking down on me,
The stars aglow, in the heavens above.
Tree branches blacken in the dark of night,
As the sun fades slowly, out of sight.

The moon is full, and it's all aglow,
And it's moving, oh! so slow,
An owl hoots in the hollow of a tree,
He is calling softly, out to me.

Who! He says, and who again.
It's me I say, I'm just a friend.
His call echos through the night.
Who! He says,
But there is still no answer, in the fading of the light.

All the leaves have fallen.
The tree's are standing bare.
The cold air is as brisk,
As the frost that nips the air.

For winter is on it's way.
Snow will fall upon the ground, covering the fallen leaves.
And it will hide the undergrowth of spring.
As through the trees I see,
The silvery moon, looking down on me.
