POPPIES

Poem 3 of 21

By the late Eileen Breen
March 27, 1916 - May 5, 2006
___________________________

Blood red poppies
on Flanders Fields
falling gently
like a mother’s tears
as Rachel like she cries
poppy drugged
he sleeps
in death’s last dream
a trip from womb to tomb
took twenty summers.
