Stamping Saturday

Finally a day off with no commitments or plans! I will be retiring to my stamp studio (also known as the living room) and be creative.

I’m working on making a bunch of paper bag scrapbooks for a craft show in November. It started out as stamping therapy when my boss was fired and turned into a potential moneymaker when five coworkers commissioned books. I figured that there must be a market for them if I could sell eight books just in my little department.

Plus they are so much fun to make!

Putting together the colors and patterns and developing a theme that pulls it all together is a challenge and a thrill. Of course, the problem will be deciding which ones I can bear to part with because when they’re finished, I love them all!

It reminds me of some of the craft projects that Mom cooked up when I was growing up. One in particular is memorable. My mother worked at a plastic manufacturing plant and when the product came out dirty in some way, it was discarded. One of those products was a petrie dish that they made for a laboratory. Mom brought the dirty dishes home and cleaned them up. Then she made them into stacking jewelry boxes using Contact Paper and fancy ribbon. And she sold tons of them. We made many a trip to the ‘everything’ store, matching ribbon and paper.

Okay, enough distracting myself and back to my projects!
