What a beautiful family memory. Your story particularly appealed to me because ravioli is my favorite Italian food. When I go to an Italian restaurant, I study the menu, consider several items, go back and read it all over again and then--I always order ravioli! A lovely memory and a nice piece of writing.

Awwwww A more beautiful "Grandma" picture has probably NEVER been painted, Toni!

God Bless!

Oh how I love my raviolis but never had the patience to make them myself. Instead I bought raviolis at Lydias, Butte's oldest and most famous la-di-da eatery. They served their ravioli and spaghetti dishes with every entre, her family's special sauce the envy of millions over a century. We lived just down the street from Lydia and because she so appreciated our son tilling her veggie garden with horse manure, she presented me with her spaghetti recipe before she died. To this day folks say I make the best sauce in town, a secret between me and Lydia. Kathe Campbell

DearToni,

Your grandmother and you could be in the art gallery with the picture you painted of the two of you making the ravioli. Wonderful language "nests of wrinkles ...worried the wispy gray... velvet light ... size of a mouse's ear." What a family memory!Congratulations on a well deserved prize. I, too have fond memories of Grandma in the kitchen. There's nothing so sweet as a Grandma's love...
Thank you for sharing!
