You said it like it is, straight from the heart. Even God made many Kansas wildflowers purple. Thistle, princess feather, pokeberries and mulberries are a few samples of his royal hand. An excellent writing example of 'Purple Pride'. Gail

Ahh yes, my HS color was purple, I know from wherest you come, Nancy. Purple for the ages and purple for all ages can't be beat when you're a darn fool K-State fan. Great story...K

Another excellent essay, Nancy! I've sent it to my nephew and family who are also goofy for Manhattan Purple. It's always great to see people passionate about things, be it their school sports or whatever. Nicely tied up at the end with the coach. Carol

Great story, Nancy. Your town really does fit the story title. The ending could be a double entendre, as I thought at first you were referring to the singer Prince's "Purple Rain" song from some years back. I guess the younger generation would think of that. :)

Oh, this takes me back to my yrs. in Manhattan! My first husband played football there....and I had numerous purple outfits. College towns are fun and it's so easy to get caught up in the excitement. Great story...
