What a great tribute to a wonderful bunch of people and their seemingly undying efforts to capture a history of their community.
Thanks

A great nostalgic story that reminds me of some of the old churches in my neck of the woods. I wish they were as active and as full of fellowship and brotherhood as they were in the old days.

This is a terrific history of a small rural church. Think how many of them are scattered throughout the USA. But I am certain very few have had such a wonderful history written like the one you did at West Liberty.

Shortly after I posted this history on OurEchoes, we received a call from Welcome Van Sickle in Bourbon County, Kansas. She was so excited she could hardly talk. Her son in southwest USA had called her and told her she was on the Internet. A friend of her son had saw the story and told him, then he just had to call his mother.
Don't know if she ever saw it on the Internet but I copied it and snail mailed it to her. She was a wonderful historian and became a great friend. As ever, Gail

A splendid historical essay! I especially liked the opening paragraph, allowing all to see Eastern Kansas through your eyes and typing fingers. Carol

Thanks everybody for your comments. I thrive on them.
I think all old buildings have a story that needs to be preserved with words before they are lost. Gail

Loved this piece! I confess I've never been to Kansas, but hearing about the West Liberty church and congregation has my feet getting "itchy"! Thanks for sharing. What a superb story!
