Hey, Mom, here's a story I haven't read before! Loved your descriptions of the Kansas wildflowers. And I won't be throwing away my Vicks bottle when it's empty this time! Thanks for a good read!

I love this story, Big Sis. Lots of memories. My interest in "found" glass treasure has evolved, with my move to the Texas Coast, to an on-going search for "beach glass," bits of broken glass that have rolled around in the surf for 20 or 30 years and become something else entirely--soft muted colors, smooth and rounded, with a finish like a pastel painting. I like to think of my aging self as a bit of "beach glass," at the core still that Kansas girl that, guided well by my mother and father, grew up strong and loved, now matured into a softer, wiser version. Something so simple as a glass bottle can bring pleasure. I, too, save bottles and among my collection are old ink bottles with the well on the inside, an old Coca~Cola bottle from the 1930s, even old vanilla extract brown bottles are neat to me! On my kitchen window ledge, there are 3 very odd-shaped miniature bottles holding strawflowers. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your entry. ~ Susan Poole

Great example of recycling something that others would unthinkingly discard. It would be great if everyone thought of this.
