Sweet Susan, I know that every word of this is true because you are the very same way yourself! It's such a heartfelt delight to be around you, to talk with you, e-mail you and read your stories. You are a true treasure and if I could ever be like anyone other than myself...I would like to be just like you. You are a blessing to any and all that know you.
Love, Mattie

Well, darlin' girl, are you trying to make me well up with tears? Your kind words are overwhelming. The highest compliment I could ever receive would be that you think I am like Mama. I know you can say the same because your own Mama was such a treasure. Thank you, Mattie, for loving me and telling me so. ~ With joy ~ Susan

Susan dear,
Since I'm one of Katherine Hammett's three children, I know for a fact that every word you said about her is absolutely valid and true. She really was a gem of a mother to us, and I cannot recall ever witnessing a time when she displayed anger, unkindness, rudeness or impatience. Her continually cheerful attitude towards life was remarkable. As a child I often said silently, "Thank God I have the mother I have, not somebody else's." It's just that I could not help but compare Mama to the mothers of our friends or neighbors. Ours always came out the "winner" in my mind!
Love the way you wrote about her, and I know Daddy would be pleased as punch to read about his "Presh". For absolute certain he placed her high up on a pedestal, because, in his words, "That's where she belongs!"
Love you,
Sandi.

Dearest Sandi, I've just echoed what you would've said about our wonderful mother if you had penned this tribute. Thanks for approving of my description of her. Multiple times we've discussed how glad we were to have our Mama over any other in the whole wide world. She sounds ideal, and you know what, she was! God definitely blessed us when we were put into her earthly hands.
I love you, li'l sis...always.

Sweet Susan,
What a wonderful tribute to your mom! I must tell you that in the apprx. 7 years that you have been my friend I have seen all those wonderful characteristics in you. You have helped me maintain a positive attitude when I was "down", your e-mails make me smile, laugh, and improve my spiritual walk with Christ. So, my dear, I SEE
YOU in that wonderful story of your Mom.
I want to tell you that "presh" was my dear husband's nick name for me,also.

And here I was, thinking there was only one Presh in all the world! Now, to discover Charlie nicknamed you that, also -- methinks he was correct! I value our sweet friendship, Hilda, and am very grateful we have our special bond in Christ. You've paid me the highest compliment by saying that some of my Mama's attributes come out in me. That is priceless, in my opinion.
Love you ~ Susan

Dearest Susan,
You touched my heart again with your beautiful story. As the tears stream down my face, I am thinking about my own sweet, precious daddy. He and your mother were so much alike, that anyone that knew them would know they were brother and sister. It has almost been a year since he passed away and I think about him everyday, as I'm sure you think of your sweet mama. We were so blessed to have angels for parents here on earth.
God bless you,
Love,
Cynthia

Dear Cynthia, I'm so glad I have the opportunity to add that I think your dear Daddy was identical in nature and temperament to Mama. Their parents did a lot right in rearing them in a loving way, and we have certainly benefitted. How very blessed we are.

Dear Susan,

How blessed you were to have such a mother. Your tribute to her was beautifully written. I loved the theme of the angel wings carried throughout; it seemed ever so fitting. I also had to smile at the section about her whistling, for my own dear mother was also a whistler. Somehow, whenever she whistled while doing her household tasks, I had a feeling of all being right in my world. Aren'e memories great?

Dear Nancy, I've caught myself whistling at times as I go to do something...when this happens, the memory of Mama jumps immediately into mind...yes, memories are wonderful! I always appreciate your comments and thank you for this one today. ~ Susan

Dearest Nu Nu,
I'll try to stop wiping the tears from my eyes long enough to comment on this moving tribute. I remember so vividly as a young freshman in High School "Presh" sitting down in the family room and just talking to me. As you know, this was so unlike my Mom could do. She truly was curious and caring about me being a child of deaf parents. That was very different from what I had experienced with other curious people. I never forgot that warm feeling I had and each time I look at the beautiful bowl that "Presh" made with her loving hands, I have that same warm feeling. That bowl is priceless....almost as priceless as my warm, loving friendship with you. I love you, Nu Nu. Your Mama done good! Bobbe

Dear Bobbe, thanks for refreshing my memory regarding that conversation you and Mama had... it sure sounds like something Mama would do...she genuinely cared about and was interested in what you had to say. I'm happy that one of the bowls she made and painted 20+ years ago sits in a special spot as a treasure in your home now. Our over-4 decades long friendship has stood the test of time, and you hold a special place in my heart.
I love you *~*~* Susan/NuNu!

Via email, I received this note from a dear cousin who knew Mama well and wanted to post it here. She wrote:
What a beautiful biography of your mother!
I sent it to Frances and Connie.
You and Sandi are very blessed to have this wonderful and perfect memory of your extra ordinary mother.
Every word you wrote is true and soooooo descriptive.
I think you could write a book about her, using the title, "Perfect Womanhood." In it you could also write about the things she confronted and her reactions to problems. What a wonderful inspiration that would be---
I love you, my precious---
