I think a lot of young people don't realize that the love and affection felt in our early years carries on into the senior years, and sometimes it is deeper and more satisfying than when "first love" hits. What a blessing to witness that special kiss. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Gail, Mattie, and Nancy -- you all have gladdened my heart today by leaving comments here. I believe you three "see" what I tried to convey in this short story: a quiet display of love and gratitude in the middle of celebration.
Thank you for stopping by today....Susan

A friend who knows both Jim & Mary Frances emailed this message:
Dear Susan,
I don't know what to say... that is and was beautiful. Powerful, meaningful and rich...I thank God for their bond, their oneness, their time together. I thank Him that you could capture this moment that says volumes. Beautifully written.

Susan dear,
Since I know both Jim and Mary Frances, this sweet memory of a special kiss shared by them is so heartwarming. I hope they read it and mke note that sometimes it's the simple things that make a holiday even more memorable than the usual festivities. Thank you for putting it into writing from your perspective and sharing it with us readers. I loved reading your story and I love you, too,
Sandi.

A great peek into someone else's life. We seldom get to view those inimate moments. Once as Clyde and I was walking from the parking lot to the heart doctor's office, the sidewalk was uneven and my husband held my hand as we walked slowly to the office. A couple of teens passed us by with their long, hurried stride and we heard the girl say, "Did you notice they are holding hands." Made us smile. Gail

Dear Gail, I know that young girl's comment did bring a smile to your lips...makes me smile even now thinking about it. My husband used to hold car doors and store doors open for me, and he'd reach over and clasp my hand as we walked -- I miss that sweet gesture since he died almost 6 years ago. You and Clyde keep holding hands all the time! *~*~* Susan

My, my, Susan-- you write with such depth of character. And "He Kissed Her" is very moving. Jim and I share one situation, a stroke. God bless and thank you, Lord, from both of us, allowing us to carry on this life which can be so meaningful. PTL.
