What a mesmerizing story! You really did live history. I love your writing --it puts me right there with you and your grandmother. So many of us who have come from other countries have experienced culture shock, but we adapt and before we know it, we are "home." Please keep writing and I will keep reading.

Veronica,

What a wonderful portrait of your grandmother you've given us. You can most definitely "paint with words." I especially liked the way you interwove your story with hers. A beautiful piece of writing. Thanks for a terrific read.

How perfectly grand this story was and what wonderful memories of a dear old Irish grandmother who you obviously adored. I breathed and smelled Ireland in your every word so easily, despite the way you moved us back and forth. Very clever piece of writing. Kathe

Veronica, you made me homesick for Ireland; and I have never been there. We have an ancestral line originating there, and I have always wanted to go. This is a lovely story, but then your writing is always something special. Thanks for introducing us to your grandmother. Barbara Carpenter

Loved this story Veronica, It really displayed the Ireland of that time. How time has changed everything, some things for the better, and some great memories remain.

Veronica! You paint a wonderful picture of mid 20th century Ireland. It is equally valid for those who made that journey and for those who remained in Ireland. The Celtic Tiger has made modern Ireland a country to which people now come in the hope of a better life. I hope we rise to that challenge. Judith Barden, Dublin, Ireland
