I wish others could find the love, the joy and the worth of handicaped pets. We have had a number of them. Curently the big boss in our house is a three leged cat named Maya. He rules in our house. There is no amount great enough to buy him from us.

Hi Fred. Glad you stopped by. I agree, some things cannot be bought. I would have kept Stubby if it hadn't been for my husband's lack of love for critters. We already had 3 dogs and 4 cats--a real stretch for him. He was mostly invalid from Congestive Heart Failure and pets were just a bother to him. Thanks for commenting. Janet

Thanks, Mike. Glad you found it. I appreciate your comment. Anyone could recognize your love for furry friends if they read your story about Ruby. You're a gifted writer. Janet

Awesome story, my eyes seem to be dripping. Does Joel remember this story as well?

Absolutely! He is 36 now and had Ebony until she was 9. That was the year she had a second litter--only two puppies that time. He found homes for the puppies, but Ebony mourned them terribly. He kept her in unless he had her on a lead, but a room-mate let her out and she put her nose to the ground to follow the smell of the car that had taken her beloved puppies and never saw the truck coming. It was a sad, tearful day. Joel packed up everything he owned and moved out. He was too angry to stay there. We often talk about her and the brood. She was an amazing friend. Janet
