This is not the whole story. There is another side to it. I have a friend who is an employer. They are having a tough time trying to hire help. The people who accept employment there will not work. They don't show up for work or leave early with the work undone. I know people out of work who will not look for work or accept work until the unemployment check runs out. Some parts of the country may not have jobs available but others do, and can't get willing workers to fill them.

Sorry your employer friend is having a tough time. But his experience is of course not necessarily that of employers generally, which is what my article is based on. Nor is your biased opinion of the jobless an accurate description of the jobless in general.

I can relate. I have been out of work for 2 months.
My rent isn't paid and other bills pile up.

I was lucky enough to find a 6 month contract which starts on Monday.

It will give me time to find something longer term

It's small comfort, of course, to know that you are not alone in suffering the pain of unemployment. But how good that you may come out all right. Best of luck to you.
