Gail, It's nice to know the lessons you and your husband taught Shannon is being passed on to her children. You, as a parent, planted the seed and it continues to bear good fruit. God bless you all. Tom

You must have been very happy to find this essay that Shannon wrote. It's almost as though it was a message to you to let you know what a wonderful life you and your husband provided for her during her growing-up years. Thanks for sharing her thoughts with the rest of us.
Nancy

Since she wrote it just 3 weeks before she was gone, I wonder if she had a premonition? It is so like all her writings. Still looking for the one she wrote "Do you have a lawn or a yard?" Gail

After reading your comment, I took another look at the date. I had assumed that it was written as a college assignment from years ago, but how special to see that she wrote it shortly before she died. Great memories of playing in the "sunshine and shadows" of the huge garden and playing in the creek--she doesn't mention the "crawdad ranches" we created there! Loved that creek!

Great story, Shannon. Hope your children enjoy it as much as you do. Miracles indeed. watching a seed, fall into the groud, dying and being resurrected in a whole new life is an amazing miracle. I'm glad you're story is posted here to remind us of how things used to be, and can still be if we're not afraid of getting our hands a bit dirty. Janet

What a treasure to have these words/memories from Shannon, now forever secured on OurEcho for all to read! I know Shannon is pleased. A splendid essay on growing up in the country in the 60s. We miss her so much, and to be able to read her stories keeps her close. Aunt Carol
