Thanks, Mary

I hope I finally got a winner for this contest. I've never made it into the money round before.

You had me up to the end. Great interpretation of the prompt lines. BJ

Great job Michael. I loved the twist that Ruby was a dog. I never tumbled until the end.

This contest likes a good twist. I was hoping no one caught on that it was a dog

This is actually based partly on true story.

I have a lump in my throat--fighting the tears so I can see to say thanks for sharing. As I read, I thought Ruby was a child. The feeling of relief poured over me, but the pain of waiting, of suffering, of possible loss lingers. You've written a real winner here. Hope you share it for publication with some publication like CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE DOG LOVER'S SOUL or READER'S DIGEST. A beautiful story--filled with emotion. Any story that brings me to tears is a winner in my book. Janet

Thank you, Janet
I read it at my local writing group last Thursday. They loved it. I had them till the end.

I'm hoping I finally make the money round in the contest with this story.

Hi Mike,
I'm sure there are many of us who want to know the reaction of the judges when you entered "Ruby" in the 24 hour story contest. Did you receive any feedback about this entry from the panel of judges?
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.

Good point, Sandi.
I later read more into the rules and suggestions to this contest.
One comment was, don't try to fool
us by making an animal story turn out to be a human.
I did that in this story.
DUH!
I messed that up
