Kathe - The General sounds like he was quite the cat and obviously became truly contented with being a part of your family.

A great story Kathe, and I know how much you miss him though your story didn't mention his recent passing. He was one of those truly memorable characters who make themselves remembered more dearly than most. God be with the General and with you.

Kathe, that was one of my favorite stories to date that you've written. I too have tried to catch little kitties along side the long road just off the highway. The little guys as you say, just run away and hide thinking they are safer in the trees. How sad it makes me. I'm soooo sorry to hear that The General passed away. They are family and missing them is large.

Thank you for sending that along....

Hi Kathe,
Great story. When I was a little girl, a stray cat came to live with us. He was a yellow tabby, just like your General. We called him Old Yeller. He only had half a tail. I always wondered what happened to the other half. BJ

Great story Kathe. I know General Sterling Price knew he was in heaven when he first stepped into your home and probably wished he had done it sooner. God bless him and you too. I can relate to so many of your stories.....marilyn

I have read this one before but still brought the tears. I could see the General as you described him, even his pride & temperment came out!!! Great story as always Kathe! Keep 'em coming!!

Ah, Kathe, you are a tender-hearted woman. Sorry about the old General. He used his lives well. I kinda hope someone may write about me in the same tone, when once I'm gone.

Hello Kathe,

I loved this story of two survivors. It reminds me of the stories in the cat book I wrote about recently where the cat's life was told from the cat's point of view. Your love of nature and animals comes through in all your stories. Veronica

With a catch in my throat, attempting to hold back tears, I must tell you, Kathe, that you made me like The General when I am not even a cat lover. You tied every detail together to tell this story and the story is stupendous, like you and your big cat. ~ Susan

'Twas a nice tribute, wasn't it? Lost my sweet old boy a couple months ago and now another big yeller cat has taken his place upon the bear in front of the fireplace. K
