Very well done. I especially liked the line about lifting your eyes to drink a million stars. Beautiful.

I appreciate the paragraph introducing the poem. It interests me to see what inspired people to write something.

I loved your poem and the way it culminated in the knowledge of God's presence. All of nature overwhelms us with the awesomeness of God and so often the sea, the sky, the mounains and hills at night. I stood at the foot of a hill at night, the stars suspended so close I felt they could hear me breathe. The hill loomed dark...a silent giant and I was afraid and amazed all at once. And I knew there was God.

Splendid, Tom! It's always a joy to encounter someone who feels as this Kansas girl does about the sea (a true mystery!). I like the line "As twilight veils the sea..." and so it does--San Antonio Bay after sunset sometimes turns a heart-breaking color that fairly takes your breath away. Carol

Hi Tom,
You are such a fine poet. How I enjoyed reading about your love for the sea! Each word is so well-chosen and vividly descriptive. Your ending is strong/powerful and makes this reader yearn to go to the beach, which is only a half hour drive away...Gulf of Mexico. Sunsets are especially gorgeous there. Only God can paint so beautifully across the evening sky.
Blessings,
Sandi in FL.

What a lovely poem Tom, I can see as I read each line that the presence of God is truly within you. Well written and words so well chosen indeed.

Hi Kathleen, I think if we just paused once in awhile and really observed the world around us, we could see the handiwork of God in many things.Thank you for your thoughtful comment. God love you. Tom
