Thank you, Suzana, for bringing this dreadful miscarriage of justice to our notice. If enough of us write the governor, and enlist as much media attention as possible, maybe we can get this turned around. Tammy is my hero. Carol

Thanx Carol. She is my hero too. I hope you will go to her site to get the
rest of her wonderful perspective. I believe she has gotten a number of "diggs." I think it means people and sites that have or are responding. But you're right - the more people respond - the sooner hopefully things will change for her and the better for these poor chained dogs and animals in general.

Tammy and all those who fight to free dogs from their captivity at the end of a chain should have our support and encouragement. This world is unjust to God's creatures and someday we will all give an account for each one to their Creator (Hebrews 4:13). Having lived in PA, I've seen and tried to help chained dogs. I went to see one on a chain only to find hear one behind the bushes. Startled seeing this poor dog suffering on a chain laying next to his green feces, I called animal control who cited the wonderful 'owners' to have the poor dog put out of his misery. I also brought a dog in my house only to be told by the 'owners' not to do that. This dog (a beagle) and many others are legally allowed to be on these chains 24/7. They freeze to death, and one had an electric fense touch his chain repeadedly to be shocked through to his collar. States where animal control, vets and shelters are far away, animals suffer and are dumped in the woods. The government is to blame. They allow puppy mills to exist. I look forward to the day when animals will be set free and all will live eternally in heaven with the righteous.

This is just one more of many cases of injustice that have been going on in this country. As you stated, the owners of the dog should have been prosecuted and should have not only served some jail time, but should have been forced to pay the vet bills for this dog. The woman who rescued the dog did technically steal the dog. The prosecutor should have prosecuted for a lesser charge such as simple trespass. The Judge should fine her one dollar just to keep it legal, and let her go. That way she would not have a criminal record and the law would have been satisfied. That would have been justice. The voters should also exact some justice by refusing to re-elect the prosecuter and the judge.

Those responsible for prosecuting this woman, obviously grew up without knowing the love of a dog. No animal deserves to be mistreated. I'm shocked this went so far. Thanks for helping bring this story to the attention of the masses. BJ

Thank you BJ, Fred, and the other unmarked sensitive writer for your concerned remarks. I hope too that not only will this horrible miscarriage of justice be rectified, but that laws will change which protect the animal and not the often cruel owner. I have been in animal right concerns for over 30 years now, and I and the rest of us who work for compassion for them, have read about horror after horror in this regard. If there is one thing I have learned - that is that we have to look at nimals as fellow living creatures who have needs very much like our own. I believe a loving Creator expects this of us. I am disappointed in my church for never making animal compassion a subject worth preaching about. I would hope that this week's revelation of how workers (probably Christian) horribly treated the downed cows in Chino, CA would be an eye-opener, but sadly I'm not counting on it. I have written the 350 Catholic Bishops in 2001 about animal cruelty and about 10 responded. You better believe, that while always loving God, I lost a lot of respect for the teaching magisterium of the church. However, I go to church daily because we are the church too and as a child, I never got over how this beautiful man Jesus died on the cross for me.

BRAVO, Suzana for giving us this story. This is sure one thing I am in agreement with you. Wonderful job. Kathe

Thanx Kathe. I am glad that many people are outraged re the treatment of Tammy and chained dogs. One day I pray that animals will be protected by law and that compassion for them will be taught in churches and schools.
